In the summer, the roads are often repaired and in the winter they are sprinkled with salt. All this negatively affects the car, causing corrosion on the bottom, dents, scratches, and even breaks in the metal are formed there. Further trips in such a car become extremely unsafe, so this problem requires an immediate solution.

Necessary

Sheets of metal (preferably galvanized or stainless steel), grinder, sealant, drill, riveting device, sander and anti-corrosion agents

Instructions

Step 1

Do some preparatory work. Wash the vehicle thoroughly and dry it outdoors. It is much more convenient to repair a clean car, especially to work with the bottom. Free your car interior from seats, rugs and all that is superfluous. Place the equipment in a place convenient for work.

Step 2

First, carefully inspect the underbody and identify the nature of the problem. If these are ordinary dents, then just punch holes and tap the metal on the back so that it snaps into place. If the bottom is attacked by rust, then here you will have to spend a little more time and effort.

Step 3

Ask someone to help, as some jobs will require a second pair of hands. Alone, you may be able to do it, but it will take you a lot of time. Dismantle all extraneous parts during work that will interfere with you when replacing the bottom.

Step 4

Using a grinder, cut out the areas of the bottom that are affected by corrosion. Do not spare the metal, do not leave rust, as it will spread over time, and the repair will have to be repeated. Value your time.

Step 5

Cut out the so-called "patches" from metal sheets - patches that will cover the holes. In this case, blanks are made with an allowance of 2 centimeters on each side. Make four rivet holes around the perimeter of the patch. Then attach a sheet of metal to the hole and solder it. Then place the rivets and carefully grind the edges with a sander.

Step 6

Remember to seal the joints with a sealant such as epoxy. And the last step is to perform anti-corrosion treatment of the metal and return the dismantled parts to their place. After such repairs, the car will serve for several more years. But if you need a guarantee and better repairs, then it makes sense to contact the salon.
