Constant velocity joints are a virtually perpetual knot in a car. But only one rubber boot protects it, which is affected by water and heat from the asphalt. Therefore, it falls into disrepair and becomes covered with cracks.

Instructions

Step 1

Prepare the machine for replacing the dust cover on the drive. This operation must be carried out in case of excessive wear of the rubber, with the appearance of cracks and cuts, and a violation of tightness. The grease in the hinge must be clean and free from water, dust, dirt. The presence of foreign small and large particles leads to very rapid wear of the CV joint. It turns out to be cheaper to audit the anthers and replace them than to constantly buy new grenades. The installation must be carried out in accordance with all norms and rules; only reliable and high-quality clamps must be used.

Step 2

Place the machine in a pit and drain two thirds of the oil from the gearbox. It is more convenient to carry out repairs first on one side of the car, then on the other. Loosen the wheel bolts or nuts and then jack up the machine. For belay, place a special support under the threshold. Using a screwdriver or chisel, you need to unlock the hub nut, then slightly loosen it with a special wrench with a long lever. So that the lateral rod does not interfere too much, you can unscrew the three bolts that secure the crab to the body. But there is an easier option - to raise the second side of the machine and install it on a support. This will help relieve the suspension.

Step 3

Remove the pin from the hole in the end of the tie rod, having previously straightened it. Unscrew the nut using a spanner wrench. Using a special puller, you will need to remove the finger from the steering knuckle. Then remove the bolts securing the ball joint to the wheel hub. Now you need to completely unscrew the hub nut, after which the outer CV joint will come off the splines on the hub. If this does not happen, you can inflict several blows on the grenade with a wooden mallet or a bronze hammer. From the side of the gearbox, you need to knock out the CV joint with a chisel and a hammer, or pry it with a crowbar and, pulling it sharply, remove it from the splines.

Step 4

Cut off the old boot with scissors. If there were holes and cuts in it, then it is imperative to rinse the CV joints in kerosene and wipe with a clean rag. But this must be done on the disassembled unit. To do this, clamp the drive firmly in a vice. Using a chisel and hammer, knock the CV joints off the shaft. Now only you can do the cleaning. After that, install an anther, a retaining ring on the shaft, stuff a grenade with a wooden mallet. A sufficient amount of special grease must be squeezed out under the boot. Only then fix it on the shaft and the CV joint with clamps.
