The convenience of driving and the safety of car operation largely depend on the serviceability of the car wiper. But often car wipers fail and require repair or complete replacement. Therefore, every driver should be able to quickly and efficiently replace a faulty wiper with a new one. For example, consider the procedure for replacing a wiper on a VAZ car.

Instructions

Step 1

Make sure the faulty wiper requires replacement. In some cases, it is possible to restore the operability of the device by replacing the burned out element of the electrical circuit. Remove the car dashboard. On the left side, find the wiper relay. Remove it by unscrewing the mounting bolts. Check the relay for functionality; replace it if necessary. Also make sure that the fuse responsible for the operation of the "wipers" is in good working order.

Step 2

Loosen the screws holding the steering column cover and remove it. Inspect the wiper switch located under the steering column. Pay particular attention to the connecting wires. If an insulation fault is found, replace the wire. If the switch block itself is defective, replace it as well.

Step 3

Inspect the wiper motor. It is usually installed under the hood. Remove the motor from the body and check for operability. A motor malfunction may be a pulley breakage; in this case, replace the pulley with a new one. If the cause of the malfunction lies in the contamination of the contacts, clean them. Replace the motor and secure it with screws.

Step 4

To replace the wiper blades, first disconnect the battery. Bend the wiper blades away from the windshield. Remove the "wipers" by taking them out of the grooves. Remove the decorative strip on the bolt holding the wiper. Remove the wiper after unscrewing the bolt.

Step 5

The assembly of the structure is carried out in the reverse order. Install a new wiper if replaced. Reinsert the "brushes" with levers. Tighten the nuts on the lever pivots. Tighten the retaining bolt, being careful not to damage the threads. Connect the battery and check if the wiper is working properly.
