The biggest challenges in learning to drive arise with a manual transmission. After all, until you figure it out, you can't even get under way. But with all the seeming complexity only on the "mechanics" you can fully enjoy real driving.

Instructions

Step 1

For proper gear shifting, understand the clutch and learn how to use the tachometer readings. The biggest challenge is the first gear with which the car starts to move. Correct clutch operation plays the most important role here. If thrown abruptly, the car will stall. But you cannot keep it for a long time, otherwise you will get under way very slowly and, even worse, you can "burn" the clutch.

Step 2

In order to understand at what point the grip can already be released, try the following exercise. Press the clutch, but don't shift. Start slowly releasing the pedal without accelerating. The car will move, and your task is to feel in what position the clutch pedal was at that moment.

Step 3

Release the clutch only when the car has traveled a couple of meters. Before driving, if you suddenly feel that you are moving too quickly or too slowly, do not be afraid to push the clutch back in control of its operation. To do this, be guided by the readings of the tachometer. If the arrow rapidly creeps up, the engine starts to make noise, and you still stand still, release the clutch pedal faster.

Step 4

It is necessary to change gears while driving, focusing on the speed at which you are driving. The second gear is included immediately after we started. To do this, release the accelerator pedal, depress the clutch, shift the transmission lever to the straight down position, release the clutch and press the gas. While driving, you do not need to release the clutch and press the gas pedal at the same time, otherwise you will get the so-called "overglowing".

Step 5

At second speed, accelerate to 30-40 km / h and release the gas again, press the clutch and move the gear lever to the right up position. Do not push the lever to the right too much, this speed is often confused with fifth gear. In this case, you will hear a sharp engine noise and the machine may jerk.

Step 6

The fourth gear is engaged at a speed of 50-80 km / h. Release the accelerator pedal, depress the clutch and move the gearshift lever to the down position. The inclusion of the fifth speed on different machines can vary in different ways, depending on the power of the engine. On low-power cars, the fifth gear is switched at a speed after 80 km / h.
