Each car has its own personal identification number - VIN-code, otherwise called the body number. With its help, you can find out when the car was released, its original configuration and some other technical details. So how can this information be obtained?

Step 1
Find the VIN code of your car. It is usually indicated in the technical passport of the car in the form of a number consisting of a group of Latin letters and numbers. The number is also stamped on the car itself. for example, it can be found on the dashboard on the left and seen from the outside through the windshield of a car. The number is also indicated in the doorway of the car from the side of the driver's seat. Some manufacturers may indicate the number in other places, for example, under the hood of a car.
Step 2
Find out the year of manufacture of the car by its VIN-code. This can be done by focusing on the tenth digit of the code. But this way you will know the so-called model year of the car. The real car could have been produced a year before that date. However, you can be sure that the tenth digit will mean that the car appeared no later than this year. Using the VIN code of a Ford car, you can also find out the month of its production - this will be the eleventh digit of the code.
Step 3
Get information about the vehicle's original equipment. This is especially true for those who purchase a used car. It is difficult to determine this on your own, so it is better to use one of the databases located on the Internet. They are usually free. At the same time, keep in mind that sites that will require you to provide a phone number are best ignored - they are most likely fraudulent in nature.
Step 4
If you wish, find out more detailed information about the car, for example, how long ago it was brought to Russia, if we are talking about a used foreign car, whether it was involved in an accident. Such information can be obtained only for a fee using one of the special databases. For example, such databases include AutoCheck and CARFAX. You can get access to them through Russian-language resources that provide paid services for checking VIN numbers.
