Cases of sudden failure of alarm panels are not uncommon. There are many reasons for this, but, as a rule, there is no time to understand them in detail. Indeed, without a working alarm key fob, the car has to be opened with a key and started in case of emergency shutdown of the security system.

Instructions
Step 1
First of all, determine if the key fob really needs to be replaced or if there is enough repair or reprogramming. If the key fob has an LCD display, all current system faults are reflected on it. The most commonplace malfunction is a dead battery that needs to be replaced.
Step 2
If you have changed the battery and the key fob still does not work, try reprogramming (“registering”) the key fob again. This feature is described in detail in the operating instructions for your alarm. You just need to know where the Valet button is located, with which you program and disable the system. But you need to program two consoles at once, even if the second one is serviceable.
Step 3
If all of the above measures did not help to revive the alarm panel, contact the authorized center or car dealership where you installed the security system. Experts will help you diagnose the entire system and identify the exact problem. It so happens that the reason for the malfunction of the remote control is in the inoperative alarm unit.
Step 4
If the alarm is in order, the remote control will be disassembled and opened (you cannot do it yourself if there is a guarantee) and the cause of the malfunction will be identified. The most common ones are the burnt-out "track" and the flooding of the board with liquid. If the track burns out, it will be lost to you, but since this is not a warranty case, you will have to pay for this service. The remote control will be taken to the service for two or three weeks, and after the repair both key fobs will be "registered" again at once.
Step 5
If the remote control cannot be repaired, as in the case of filling the board with liquid or mechanical damage, you can purchase a remote control separately. This can be done directly in the salon or service, or you can contact the official supplier of security systems directly. And many online spare parts stores sell additional accessories. You can order the remote control from them, but then you will have to program it yourself.
Step 6
If the alarm system is outdated and out of production, it is very difficult to find an interchangeable key fob. Here you cannot do without the help of a specialist. It may also happen that it is impossible to pick up the remote control and all that remains is to dismantle the alarm and install a new modern system. But since the average service life of an alarm is 3-5 years, a malfunction of the alarm panel only indicates that it is time to change it.
