Foreigners who temporarily or permanently settled in Russia are often interested in the issue of exchanging foreign driver's licenses for Russian ones. And this question is especially relevant if the guest plans to live in the Russian Federation for a long time or even obtain citizenship.
It is necessary
- - a package of documents;
- - money to pay the state duty
Instructions
Step 1
First of all, be aware that if you have a foreign driver's license in Russia, you are allowed to drive a car for 60 days from the moment you enter the country. The main thing is that this certificate is valid (the validity period has not expired) and has the inscription "permis de conduire". All requirements of the traffic police inspectors to provide his translation are illegal.
Step 2
Regardless of whether the above period has expired or not, exchange the rights for Russian ones at the territorial body of the traffic police. Pre-collect the following documents: a passport with marks or inserts on temporary or permanent registration, an application on a special form, a document confirming the completion of a driving course with an official translation, a medical certificate with two copies, a receipt for payment of a state duty, a foreign driver's license with a notarized translation, photographs 3x4 two pieces. For those arriving from the countries of the former USSR - a personal driver card.
Step 3
Consider some of the nuances: upon presentation of a foreign passport with temporary registration, a driver's license will be issued for the period of validity of the registration. The application form can be obtained free of charge from the inspectors and can be completed independently. The amount of the state duty depends on the type of rights obtained: rights on paper - 400 rubles, rights on a plastic card - 800 rubles, international rights - 1000 rubles. When paying the duty itself, be aware that the size of the commission at the Sberbank branch is much lower than at the cashier's office of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate.
