What is an intersection
An intersection is an intersection of roads of equal or different significance. Also, the designation of an intersection refers to a section of the road to which other roads adjoin, or this section has a fork. A stricter wording is indicated in the traffic rules of the Russian Federation: Intersections are divided into equal and unequal, as well as regulated and unregulated. According to their configuration, intersections are circular. Regulated intersections are considered as such if traffic lights, road signs, road markings or a traffic controller organize traffic on them.

Actions to be taken by the driver when entering the intersection, as well as directly when making a U-turn on it:
- the first thing a driver should be guided by when approaching an intersection is traffic lights, traffic control signs, road markings or road signs that prohibit or permit further movement;
- further, before directly entering the intersection, it is necessary to occupy the required lane, namely, in the case of a planned U-turn at the intersection, the leftmost one;
- it is necessary to turn on the turn signal in advance;
- the most optimal turning trajectory is considered to be the one in which the vehicle does not leave the intersection of the roads of the previously designated zone.
- there are two possible options for performing a turn at an intersection, namely: a small turning radius and a large turning radius.
Turning radius
How is a close radius turn performed? Leaving the intersection, letting through the oncoming traffic flow and without leaving the oncoming traffic lane, make a U-turn. At the same time, it immediately occupies the prescribed lane, without interfering with other road users, including pedestrians. The main point in this maneuver is the road situation, which does not always allow you to make this maneuver cleanly. Namely: you can involuntarily drive into the oncoming lane. This can happen if there are markings on the roadway in the form of a dividing strip. And for such a violation, traffic police inspectors are very often deprived of their rights.
A very important factor that can also affect the performance of a maneuver is the size of the car. If it's a passenger car, then a small radius U-turn is your option. And of course, if it's a heavy-duty vehicle, then turn only along a large radius.
