A car covered with a film immediately acquires individuality and is radically different from thousands of cars of the same brand. If you decide to transform your vehicle, the easiest and most inexpensive way is to cover it with a film, and with its help you can not only add a picture or an inscription, but also completely change the color of the car.
It is necessary
- - car;
- - vinyl sticker on white paper (base);
- - garage;
- - assistant;
- - dry rags;
- - stationery knife;
- - squeegee;
- - masking tape;
- - a spray bottle with water;
- - detergent (eg Fairy);
- - industrial or conventional hair dryer.
Instructions
Step 1
Find a suitable place to work. The best option is a dry and warm (at least + 10⁰C) garage. You can also glue the film on the car outside, if it is warm enough and not windy. Stickers attached in colder weather will last no more than two weeks.
Step 2
Wash and dry the car (or at least the place where the film will be glued). Additionally, degrease with a white spirit solution.
Step 3
Apply the sticker (without removing the mounting film and backing) to the car, adjust, trim if necessary. Make marks on the car with masking tape.
Step 4
If the sticker is small, immediately remove the white base from it, do it with assistants, preferably on the table. Do not touch the mounting tape yet.
Step 5
Take a spray bottle with water and add a little detergent to it (no more than 1/10 of the volume). Just water will not work, it will not allow you to adjust the position of the sticker. Spray the area of the pasting and the adhesive side of the film liberally with soapy water.
Step 6
Apply the sticker to the car, straighten it, adjust the position slightly if necessary. If the decal is large, peel off the white base gradually, being careful not to get it wet. First, peel back part of the backing and attach the adhesive part of the film to the surface. Gradually peel off the paper and glue the film to the car until all of it is in the right place.
Step 7
Roll the film evenly with a rubber squeegee, expelling bubbles. Start on a flat surface, preferably in the middle. Dry the surface with a hairdryer at the same time. Do not heat the film too much, it may melt.
Step 8
If there is tension in the film, remove some of it after the surface underneath is fully rolled and dried. Next, move on to the edges and irregularities.
Step 9
To avoid creases, peel off the sticker a little and, heating it with a hairdryer, roll it on again. Heating may cause the film to stretch or shrink slightly. As a last resort, to relieve the tension of the film, you can cut it a little and gently roll the cut edges.
Step 10
When you are satisfied with the position of the sticker, dry the entire surface with a mounting hairdryer and leave the car for 15 minutes. Carefully peel off the protective film from the sticker.
Step 11
Armed with a felt squeegee, once again sweep across the entire surface, expelling bubbles and remaining soapy water. If, nevertheless, there are bubbles in the center, heat them with a hairdryer, pierce them with a needle and gently press them against the car. You can leave small bubbles, most likely, they will disappear on their own in a couple of weeks.
Step 12
Cut off excess film, heat the edges with a hairdryer and bend, roll with a squeegee. Dry the refurbished car with a rag or blow dry. It is not necessary to wash a car covered with film for at least a week.
