Incorrectly adjusted headlights not only poorly illuminate the road on which you are driving, but also create emergency situations, blind oncoming drivers. You can avoid this by adjusting the headlights yourself.
It is necessary
- Car
- Smooth wall
- Smooth area in front of the wall
- Chalk or paint to paint on the wall
Instructions
Step 1
You need to find a suitable location with a flat wall and a horizontal platform adjacent to that wall.
But before you start adjusting the headlights, you need to prepare the car. The pressure in the tires must be optimal, all workers must have lamps in the headlights, the car must be fully fueled and equipped. It is best if a person of the same weight as the driver is sitting behind the wheel while adjusting the headlights.
Step 2
The second step is to draw the markings on the wall, along which we will align the headlights. To do this, we fit the car almost close to the wall and mark the point of the center of the car and the central axes of each headlight lamp on the wall. Then connect the center points of the lamps with a horizontal line. Then draw vertical lines through the center points of the lamps, and through the center point of the car.
Step 3
Let's start adjusting the headlights. The adjustment process consists in tightening the headlight adjustment screws, which are located on the back of the headlights. This achieves the correct direction of the light beam.
Step 4
In some cases, the headlights are adjusted one at a time. That is, first, they cover the left headlight with cardboard so that the light does not shine on the wall and adjust the right headlight. Then vice versa. Headlights are regulated on the included dipped beam. Adjust the headlights so that the horizontal line of the headlights is flush with the horizontal strip painted on the wall. Then adjust the headlights horizontally so that the point where the headlights divert upwards is at the intersection of the stripes. If you've done everything right, your headlights are now in alignment.
