Gasoline is the main fuel used for refueling vehicles. It is obtained by separating oil into fractions. There are several brands of gasoline that differ from each other in their characteristics.
AI-92 and AI-95 gasolines are the most demanded fuels in the CIS. The letter "A" in the abbreviation means that gasoline is automobile. The letter "I" indicates that the octane number is determined by a research method.
All used brands of gasoline differ in octane number, which characterizes the detonation resistance of the fuel, i.e. its ability to resist self-ignition under compression. The higher this number, the more stable the gasoline molecules. Usually an increase in octane is achieved by the addition of various additives.
In practical use, AI-95 gasoline does not differ much from IA-92. But AI-95 is more economical and environmentally cleaner, since it contains less lead impurities. In addition, the use of AI-95 reduces the likelihood that engine valves and pistons will burn out.
Gasoline AI-92 is often referred to as obsolete fuels. It is not produced in the European Union because it does not meet environmental requirements.
However, all this may not matter, since it has long been known that in our country the quality of gasoline often depends not on its octane number, but on the decency of the fuel manufacturer and seller.
