Only at first glance, the key in choosing a paint for a car is its shade. The type of enamel, its texture, application technique also play a significant role.

Quite often, motorists are faced with the need to completely or partially paint a car. And if for a high-quality performance of the first one should contact specialists, then the second, especially if the damage to the paintwork is insignificant, it is quite possible to do it yourself.

The first issue that needs to be addressed is the issue of choice. Moreover, the choice is not only the color, but also the type of paint.

Paint color options

The main task that is posed when choosing a paint is to select the right color. The transition from the freshly painted surface to the original body color should be almost invisible.

There are two main ways to select paint.

1. The selection is carried out according to the so-called vin-code. This procedure is performed using computer equipment that decodes the code and allows you to choose the color of the paint that will ideally match the original color of the coating. This process is quite expensive, but it can guarantee 100% success.

2. Selection of the color of the car enamel "by eye". This option is acceptable only if it is carried out by a specialist who is sufficiently experienced in these matters. We do not recommend that you solve this problem yourself. Indeed, to obtain the desired color and shade, sometimes you have to mix several paints, and do it in the right proportions. Otherwise, you may be unpleasantly surprised by the result. Better to pick up paint in the salon. If you are unable to deliver your car to such a salon for various reasons, bring some small removable body part (for example, a gas tank cap) as a color sample.

Practical advice on choosing the type of paint

1. Use car cosmetics only from the world's leading manufacturers

2. Do not use auto enamel with a high hardness index in places of folds and vibrations.

3. Glyphthal enamels require a long drying time - sometimes it takes several days for complete hardening. In addition, they are sensitive to ambient temperature (subject to thickening and therefore require correct dilution before use). Priming of parts is required before painting.

4. Acrylic enamel should be used in several layers. It is not recommended to cover it with varnish.

5. After applying and drying the metallized varnish, do not forget to cover the surface with clear acrylic varnish (always included with the base colored nitro enamel).

6. When working with enamel, which can be used directly on rust, do not be too lazy to tidy up at least the most problematic areas by removing deep loose rust.
