In the last decade, there has been a tendency among motorists to change car hubcaps for rims. There are several types of disks. They can be cast or forged. The material for their creation can also be very different, and not every driver knows how to choose the right car wheels.
Instructions
Step 1
Select the diameter of the future disc. Most cars are now fitted with 13 to 16 inch rims. Recently, however, many car enthusiasts are installing discs with a larger diameter, since by increasing the diameter, it is possible to improve the ride quality indicators (speed and handling). Please note that installing steel rims on your vehicle will increase the chassis weight, which is undesirable. An alloy wheel will not increase the mass of your wheel.
Step 2
When choosing the width of the rim, be guided by the main rule, which states that it should be 25-30% less than the width of the profile. Do not mount discs that are overly wide or narrow, as this may impair the maneuverability and speed of the vehicle.
Step 3
Calculate wheel offset so that you can handle the vehicle and provide optimum stability. This must be done for each machine separately. Departure can be positive, negative and zero.
Step 4
Do not change the diameter of the rim hole if you find some inconsistency with the standard arrangement, because this may be done on purpose at the tire factory. Manufacturers can often do this on purpose to optimize their products for different car models. For successful installation, these discs are equipped with additional adapter rings.
Step 5
Make no mistake about the hole size when buying a disc. Remove all dimensions from your chassis to prevent this error. Use longer bolts and nuts if you are going to change from a stamped standard disc to a light alloy disc, as the latter is usually thicker than steel. An abnormal wheel offset can significantly damage the vehicle. Therefore, refrain from installing this item.
