Most motorists know that battery problems can occur not only if it is undercharged, but also when the battery is overcharged. In other words, the inability to start the car in frost is far from the biggest nuisance that happens when the battery is incorrectly charged and used.

Instructions
Step 1
The fault of the failure of the car battery can be a malfunction of the generator, as a result of which the battery receives an excessive charge, or the inexperience of the motorist who has allowed recharging. Undercharging during winter frosts can lead to sulfation of the plates and even to a change in the polarity of some cans. In the hot season, overcharging causes the destruction of the plus plates and shedding of the active mass. All this leads to a reduction in battery life.
Step 2
If your car won't start, it's natural to assume that charging is required. The second sign of its necessity is the electrolyte density below 1.25 g / m & sup3.
Step 3
Disconnect the battery. Open fillers, if any. Connect the battery to the charger. Plug in.
Step 4
When charging, the value of the current strength should not exceed 0.1 A of the value of its capacity. Slow charging is more beneficial for the battery. For example, if you charge a 12 V, 55 A / h battery, then the amperage should not exceed 5.5 A. The charging time is approximately 10 hours.
Step 5
From time to time, check the battery voltage, density and temperature of the electrolyte - if it reaches 45 degrees, reduce the current by half or suspend charging.
Step 6
For normal operation, the battery must be charged 1.5 times its nominal capacity. The surplus is spent on chemical transformations.
Step 7
Pay attention to the manufacturer's recommendations. If the charging current is less than the specified one, alkaline batteries will lose capacity. If the voltage and density of the electrolyte remain constant for 2 hours and gases are released from all cells, the battery is charged.
Step 8
In case of density adjustment, the battery is charged for 40 minutes at a voltage of 15-16V. In this case, the electrolyte is actively stirred.
