Step 1

If the diesel engine refuses to start, ignite the glow plugs 1-2 times depending on the outside temperature and the degree of deterioration of the car. In many vehicles, glow plugs can be monitored with distinct clicks. If the car is equipped with such spark plugs, turn on the ignition. At the same time, you will hear the characteristic click of the candles turning on, and after another 10 seconds. hear a second click to disable them. Turn off the ignition and repeat the procedure again. Then try to start the diesel. In this case, be sure to press the gas pedal, except for cases when the injection pump is electronically controlled.

Step 2

If the engine is not equipped with glow plugs and the compression is out of order, start the engine with a special ether (quick and easy start spray). It can be purchased at any store or gas station. Inject it into the intake manifold by opening the air filter housing. If this spray is not available, use a gas burner to direct hot air into the intake manifold. It will warm up the cylinders and the engine will start easily. If this method is also not available, use a powerful battery or a starter-charger in engine start mode for starting.

Step 3

Check the functionality of the glow plugs. If they are rated for 12V, turn them out and connect directly to the battery terminals using thick wire. Serviceable candles should warm up red-hot on the tip for 3-5 seconds. Otherwise, replace the spark plug. To test a 6V plug, connect two pieces to the battery in series. Please note that if one candle does not work, both will not heat up, since the connection sequence will be interrupted.

Check the functionality of the glow plug relay. To do this, connect the tester lead or one of the control lamp wires to the relay power bus, the other to ground. This method checks the power supply to the relay. Perform the procedure on a cold diesel engine.

Step 5

Check fuel supply. To do this, check the operation of the manual priming pump. If the frog of the hand pump retracts after an attempt to start the engine and remains in this position, but when manually pumping it returns to its original position very slowly, it means that the fuel is frozen and the paraffin has clogged the grid on the fuel receiver or blocked the fuel line.

Step 6

Purge the clogged fuel line with a compressor or pump. To do this, remove the fuel supply hose from the filter, open the fuel tank cap, connect the compressor (pump) hose to the fuel supply hose and blow out the latter. After some time after the gurgling sounds appear in the tank, stop purging. Place a blowtorch under the fuel tank and heat the diesel fuel for 15 minutes by directing the flame along the sides of the tank. At the same time, periodically pump fuel with a hand pump.

Step 7

If the described actions do not help to start the engine, warm up the fuel equipment. To do this, boil the kettle and pour boiling water over the instrument cases and steel fuel lines. If you are careful, you can warm it up with a gas burner. If all the described techniques were performed correctly and in full, the diesel engine will start in 9 cases out of 10.
