All car owners want their "iron" horse to consume as little fuel as possible. But how do you choose an economical car? Of course, the choice of such a car can be reduced to a simple comparison of motors, however, first of all, one should decide on the model, body type and other parameters.

Cars with a traditional engine

It has already become a tradition that cars with diesel engines are more economical than their gasoline counterparts. But there are several "buts" here: firstly, cars are equipped with gasoline engines as standard, and diesel engines will have to pay extra, so they are more expensive.

Cars with diesel units are not very popular in Russia, but they are in deserved demand. One of these representatives is Renault Duster, which is equipped with a 1.5-liter diesel engine with a capacity of 90 forces and all-wheel drive. And it is quite economical: in the combined cycle "Duster" requires only 5.3 liters of diesel fuel per 100 km of run. At the same time, many can afford such a car: they ask for it from 679,000 rubles.

Another interesting model is the Skoda Octavia, under the hood of which is a 2.0-liter turbodiesel producing 143 horsepower. With such decent power, the car only needs 5.1 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers on the combined cycle. As for the cost, such an "Octavia" will cost at least 964,000 rubles.

How to choose an economical car with a gasoline engine? There are many options in different classes. But the most acceptable option can be called a small car. Such an example is the Kia Picanto, which can be purchased at a price of 399,900 rubles. The car with a 1.0-liter engine producing 69 horsepower consumes only 4.2 liters of gasoline per 100 kilometers on the combined cycle.

Skoda Octavia, but already with a petrol 1.4-liter turbo unit for 140 "horses" and a robotic transmission, consumes only 5.3 liters of fuel. Such a car costs from 844,000 rubles.

Hybrid vehicles

By far the most economical vehicles are those equipped with a hybrid powertrain. But at the same time, such cars are quite expensive.

The most famous hybrid representative can be called Toyota Prius, which is offered at a price of 1,217,000 rubles. The car has a power of 99 horsepower and requires 3.9 liters of fuel to cover 100 kilometers in a combined cycle. Another hybrid is Lexus CT, the minimum asking price is 1,323,000 rubles. The hatchback needs only 3.8 liters of gasoline.
