There are many different carburetor designs. This device serves to supply a mixture of fuel and air to the engine. All carburetor engines used in domestic and foreign cars can reduce fuel consumption and make the carburetor more economical.

Instructions

Step 1

The simplest carburetor consists of: a float chamber, a float, a diffuser, a nozzle with a spray and a throttle valve.

Fuel flows through a tube from the tank to the chamber. A brass hollow float and a shut-off needle resting on it are located in the float chamber. When the fuel in the float chamber reaches a certain level, the float floats up and forces the needle to close off the tube, after which the fuel supply to the carburetor stops.

During engine operation, fuel is consumed, its level in the chamber decreases, as a result of which the float drops, and the needle again opens the pipe and starts the fuel supply. Thanks to such a system, a constant fuel level is maintained in the float chamber, which is very important for proper engine operation and fuel consumption regulation.

Step 2

In order to reduce fuel consumption on a car with a carburetor type of engine, it is necessary to purchase a so-called repair kit from a specialized auto shop, the size of the jets in which is smaller than in a standard carburetor. A repair kit for a domestic car, most likely, will cost an order of magnitude cheaper than for an imported one.

Step 3

The jet is used to supply fuel from the float chamber to the sprayer. The amount of fuel directly depends on the type of jet, namely on its shape and size. Consequently, the smaller the engine volume for which the jet is designed, the less fuel will enter the atomizer, which means that the fuel consumption will be less.

Step 4

So, in order to reduce fuel consumption in the carburetor, it is enough to purchase a repair kit with jets designed for a smaller engine volume. For example, for a carburetor from a VAZ 21011 with an engine volume of 1.3 liters, you will need to buy a repair kit for Tavria with an engine volume of 1.1 liters

Step 5

After purchasing a suitable repair kit, remove the carburetor and disassemble it. Replace the old jets with new ones that are designed for a smaller engine size. Next, assemble the carburetor and reinstall it. With proper disassembly and assembly of the carburetor and installation of the jets, fuel consumption should be reduced.
