There are plenty of reasons for poor headlights. This can be oxidation or melting of the contacts as a result of a voltage drop. In many cars, for example, the headlights are turned on not through a relay, but through a steering column switch. Or the point is completely faded glass and dirty reflectors.
Instructions
Step 1
If the reason was a voltage drop, then the installation of several additional relays, as a rule, no more than two, will help to eliminate the problem. To do this, do the following:
- take two wires that go from the steering column switch to the lamps;
- on the wire coming from the steering column switch, connect the relay coil (2 coil contact going to ground);
- connect the wire leading to the light bulb to the relay contact;
- connect a thick wire with positive polarity to the second contact.
Step 2
Another effective solution to increase the luminosity of headlights is actually polishing them. All that needs to be done:
- first wash the headlamp;
- Remove the radiator grille and direction indicator;
- cover all areas adjacent to the headlamp with tape;
- For the first coarse sanding, use 600 grit sandpaper. After this procedure, the glass surface should acquire a uniform matt shade.
- The next step will be sanding with 1000, 2000 and 4000 grit paper in turn, respectively.
- then rinse and wipe the glass dry;
- in the final step, polish with a special mixture (Polish-2000 is suitable) by hand.
Step 3
Such work can be done both manually and with the help of a grinding machine, with which it will be much easier and faster. In fact, after the actions taken, the improvement in the luminosity of the headlights usually increases to 40%.
Do not put more powerful lamps in the headlights, as contrary to expectations, there will be no benefit from this, on the contrary, it will only bring harm. The luminous flux will turn out to be not focused and will blind oncoming drivers and pedestrians.
Keep your glasses clean, so heavily soiled glass may well be the cause. Clean in time so you don't have to change the glass.
