The history of the automotive industry has known ups and downs, many ingenious designers and inventors have remained in the shadow of the owners of concerns that produced cars under their own name. One thing is known for certain: since mankind invented a self-propelled carriage, it has sought to get rid of the need to walk.
Instructions
Step 1
The first self-propelled carriages were powered by a steam engine. They were invented in the 18th century. Such carts could carry a small number of people and develop a very low speed, while they were too noisy, and there was a lot of smoke from them.
Step 2
In Russia, such a development was presented by Ivan Kulibin in 1791. It was a self-propelled carriage with a steam engine, pedals, a gearbox and a flywheel. This invention had three wheels. But this innovation was not supported by the government, and the invention did not receive its distribution.
Step 3
Thus, realizing that with a steam engine, there would be no particular success in the automotive industry, the inventors began to use electricity. The first electric motor was invented in 1828 by a scientist from Hungary.
Step 4
The first car in the modern sense, that is, running on gasoline, was the three-wheeled unit of German engineers Karl Benz and Gottlieb Daimler, who invented the internal combustion engine in 1886. Their car not only received well-deserved recognition, but also went into mass production in 1890.
Step 5
In appearance, it resembled the invention of Shamshurenkov and Kulibin, had an engine of 1.7 liters and a weight of 230 kg. The flywheel, like the engine, was located horizontally. A distinctive feature was the water cooling of the engine, as well as the use of a mechanically operated intake valve and electric ignition. This has taken the automotive industry to a new level.
Step 6
In 1893, the world saw Benz cars, which were affordable and simple, they were based on the previous design, but were already four-wheeled, nevertheless, the technical characteristics remained the same.
Step 7
The history of the domestic car began in Chicago, at an exhibition in 1893, where the Benz was presented. It was there that Evgeny Alexandrovich Yakovlev and Pyotr Alexandrovich Frese met. Together they decided to invent their own prototype of a car with an internal combustion engine. Thus, in 1896, Russian residents saw the first domestic production car. This invention was similar to the Benz car both in characteristics and in appearance, however, it was not a copy of the German unit, but was its own development.
Step 8
During this time, Daimler continued to perfect his inventions. In 1895 he, together with a partner, launched the Daimler, which became his first own car. In 1889, a car was born, capable of developing already 80 km / h, and after it the popular and nowadays Mercedes brand entered production. From that moment on, an even greater development of automotive technologies and innovations in this area began, which continue to be improved to this day.
