A broken hairpin can cause a lot of trouble for motorists, especially if it is in a hard-to-reach place. Then the difficulty of extracting it will also lie in getting close to it.

Step 1
If there is access to the pin, but it does not lend itself, then try pouring a strong electrolyte into the hole, for example, nitric acid, which will help break the connection between the two metal surfaces. If the hairpin breaks off so that it is not possible to get close to it, then try the following methods.
Step 2
Purchase a special extractor kit that is designed to remove broken studs, stripped head bolts, drills, and more. After that, drill a hole in the center of the jammed part, which should be slightly smaller than the diameter of the extractor. You need to drill with a jig, which will help you make a hole exactly in the center. Be sure to maintain the required wall thickness of the part to be removed.
Step 3
After the hole is ready, insert the extractor into it, which gently screw inward. Remember that this fixture has a left hand thread, so it will screw in the opposite direction. After a while, it will finish rotating and will begin to come out along with the stuck hairpin.
Step 4
Try drilling out the broken part. Be extremely attentive and patient. However, remember that if there is a high probability of small metal chips getting inside important components and assemblies, then abandon this method. Also try using left-handed drills to drill the surface at low speeds. Often, the thread begins to loosen due to the left stroke of the drill and the damaged stud will easily come out.
Step 5
If the surface and space allow welding, then weld a nut to the protruding end of the stud. After that, take a wrench of the required diameter in your hands and start unscrewing the nut, which will pull out the rest of the part along with it.
