Mud flaps are an invariable attribute of any car. They allow not only to protect the car from excessive accumulation of pollution, but also help to protect others from getting dirt from under the wheels. Therefore, car owners always try to have mud flaps on the car.
Instructions
Step 1
Buy mud flaps that are right for your vehicle. If these are not available, then universal ones will do. If you need to remove the old one, then turn the wheel to the maximum angle to provide access to the mudguard. If necessary, remove the wheel; for this, raise the car with a jack and unscrew the nuts securing the wheel.
Step 2
Unscrew the two self-tapping screws located in the wheel arch and the plastic screw at the bottom. Remember that it is necessary to slightly squeeze the splash guard when unscrewing the last screw to prevent the screw from turning in the plastic sleeve. Clean the surface of the future mounting of the mudguard from dirt and various streaks.
Step 3
Attach a new mudguard to the installation site and gently press down on the place where the screw was screwed in. A place for the future hole will be imprinted on the back side. "Hole through" the mudguard in that place with a drill, then take a self-tapping screw and screw it on. Place a large washer under the head of the screw to prevent the rubber from bursting.
Step 4
Mark the location for the hole for the upper self-tapping screw on the wheel arch. Attach the mudguard in the remaining two locations. Remember to place a washer under each screw. Take care of strengthening the upper edge of the mudguard, to do this, press it against the arch and drill a through hole through the end of the wing and screw in a thin self-tapping screw with a wide head.
Step 5
Use a sharp knife to trim off the protruding edges of the rubber. Do this at a 45 degree angle to create the outline of the mudguard in the arch. This action will help prevent the accumulation of water, snow and other contaminants. Screw the wheel back on and test the mudguard on sand or water. From the side of the mudguard, you will not hear unnecessary sounds and get a clean surface.
