Even if you do not like tinkering and doing something around the house with your own hands, sooner or later you will still face a situation when you need to tighten the screw. A seemingly simple operation in some cases can cause a lot of difficulties.
Necessary
- - screwdriver;
- - wrench or adjustable wrench;
- - screwdriver;
- - spring and bracket;
- - rubber tube;
- - glue or paint.
Instructions
Step 1
Inspect the screw head and find a suitable tightening tool. If the head has a cutout, pick up a Phillips or flathead screwdriver of the correct diameter. Please note that if you use a screwdriver that is too small, it will scroll, and too large one can break the thread.
Step 2
If the head of the screw is made in the form of a hexagon or a square, choose a suitable wrench, you can also use an adjustable wrench or, in extreme cases, pliers.
Step 3
In order to tighten a screw with one or two holes instead of a slot, a screw for a Y-shaped screwdriver, "lock" screws created to make it difficult to unscrew, purchase a special tool.
Step 4
If you need to screw a large amount of fasteners, use a screwdriver or drill bit. In addition, purchase different attachments, including those for screwing fasteners in hard-to-reach places.
Step 5
Use a swivel screwdriver to tighten the screw where it is impossible to get to it. You can make such a screwdriver yourself, to do this, cut the rod of an ordinary screwdriver in two and connect it with a spring welded to the end again.
Step 6
To avoid having to hold the screw by hand, slide the spring clip onto the screwdriver. Drill a hole from the side of the handle, insert the pin into it and press the spring with it. When you place the screw in the hole in the bracket, the spring should press it firmly against the tip of the screwdriver.
Step 7
You can do it even easier - find a rubber tube with an inner diameter slightly smaller than the diameter of the screwdriver. Cut a piece 3 cm long and pull it tightly over the working end of the screwdriver, insert the screw head into the tube. Now you can work in any position, without the help of a second hand.
Step 8
To prevent the screw from loosening from vibration, coat it with glue or paint before work. If possible, rivet its end on the other side of the part and close the thread (in this case, keep in mind that the mount will become non-separable).
