Car owners, including the UAZ brand, are faced with the question of painting their "iron horse". This is a rather expensive procedure, however, armed with some special items, you can paint the UAZ yourself.
Necessary
- - detergent;
- - chisel;
- - sandpaper;
- - putty knife and putty;
- - compressor;
- - brush or roller.
Instructions
Step 1
Wash the vehicle thoroughly to remove road dirt and bitumen and grease stains. This can be done using specialized tools, but in no case with gasoline or thinner.
Step 2
Then remove the rear and front bumpers, as well as all headlights, direction indicators, sidelights, radio antenna, radiator grill and other external lighting equipment. Also remove the wheel arch protection if fitted to the vehicle. Then clean the surfaces on the fender flanges in the wheel openings. Rinse the removed parts thoroughly, remove rust and dry.
Step 3
Sand the defective spots with sandpaper. When performing this work, remember that the cleaning area should be almost equal to the area of the most defective place. Make the transition from a defective place to a non-defective one so that it is smooth. Watch this and check with your palm, since only this part of the body is able to most accurately tell you the difference in height.
Step 4
Start filling the defective areas only after performing the previous operations. Stir the hardener with the putty with a homemade spatula in the proportions indicated on the package. Do this for 30-40 seconds, after which immediately apply to the defective areas and achieve a smooth surface and let the putty harden. After hardening, clean the surface.
Step 5
Cover the areas you will not be painting with paper and masking tape. After sanding the paintwork until it becomes matte, and wipe it off with a rag.
Step 6
Dilute the car enamel with solvent and check the thickness of the paint. If you put a metal rod into it, then the paint should drain 3-4 drops per second. Strain the paint through a funnel and mesh into a spray gun and start painting the car. Start from the roof of the car and gradually descend below.
