There are three types of filters in the system of a modern car: air, fuel, oil. Their performance must be checked in a timely manner, as they play an important role in ensuring the longevity of the vehicle.
Air filters
Provides cleaning of the air stream that is drawn into the engine from dust, insects, sand and other contaminants. These filter elements are available in round or rectangular shapes.
The rectangular shape is more popular because:
- they are installed in a new line of modern passenger cars;
- most species lack metal parts;
- good filter media size.
Round filters were installed on carburetor cars, so they are not suitable for modern injection engines.
By design, they are divided into light and heavy. Lungs are used in class B, C cars and jeeps. Heavy ones are installed in trucks.
Oil filters
Necessary for cleaning engine oil from metal chips formed during the operation of the engine mechanisms.
They are divided into two types: coarse and fine cleaning. Coarse filters stop large particles of contamination, fine filters - smaller ones. Basically, these two types of filters are installed at once.
The task of the air conditioner filter is to cool the engine oil and clean it. It helps the engine cool down better. Engine problems are often directly related to the engine lubrication system. If the oil does not change regularly and has a large amount of metal chips formed during engine break-in, then such an engine can quickly fail.
In order to purify the oil that works in the gearbox, a transmission filter is installed. It affects the service life of the unit and the clarity of gear changes.
Fuel filters
They serve to clean the fuel from unwanted particles, which are: sand, dust, water. They are coarse and fine. They are located in front of the fuel pump, which pumps fuel from the vehicle's tank to the engine.
If the vehicle owner replaces the filter elements of the air, oil and fuel systems on time, thereby, he will significantly save his budget. Failure to comply with these elementary rules may require the investment of considerable sums of money for the repair or complete replacement of vehicle units.
