There are no trifles for the one who strives to keep his car in good condition. The choice of spare parts and accessories for the car is very important, because the safety of the car and its appearance depend on it. However, not all motorists know how to select or use a particular part correctly. For example, which car rims to prefer and how to install them.
Necessary
- - disks;
- - jack;
- - balloon wrench.
Instructions
Step 1
Decide on the diameter of your future discs. Today, the most common discs with a diameter of 13 to 16 inches. Large diameter discs can be fitted to improve vehicle handling and driving speed. It should be remembered that when installing steel disks, the mass of the chassis increases, and this is not very good. Light-alloy wheels are lighter and therefore do not affect the weight of the chassis.
Step 2
Choosing the width of the rim should be based on the fact that it can be no more than thirty percent narrower than the profile. Rims that are too narrow or too wide make the car less manoeuvrable and have a negative effect on speed. When calculating the wheel offset, it is necessary to proceed from ensuring the best controllability of the machine and its optimal stability. Each car has its own indicators that must be taken into account when choosing disks.
Step 3
Never change the disc bore diameter if it is out of alignment. This may be a special move by the manufacturer to optimize the product, not a defect. To install such discs on your car, use additional adapter rings of the required diameter.
Step 4
In order not to be mistaken when buying a disc in choosing the right diameter and the correct location of the holes, you must first take measurements. If you want to replace an old stamped wheel with an alloy wheel, use the longer bolts and nuts because the new wheel will be thicker than the standard one. Do not forget that an abnormal wheel departure can harm the car, so this should be done only in exceptional cases.
Step 5
In order to replace the disks (for simplicity, we will assume that you have already visited a tire fitting, where you put tires on the new disks), put the car on the handbrake and into gear. Loosen the bolts that secure the disc with the wheel wrench.
Step 6
Place a jack on the side where you will change the disc. Remove the bolts that secure the disc. Remove the disc from the hub. Install the new disc into the two guides. Tighten the bolts. Lower the car and go to the next disc. Repeat the operation as many times as the number of disks you want to replace.
