Volga cars have long been famous for their cozy and spacious interior. However, the radiator of the stove, thanks to which the interior becomes warm so quickly, often fails or becomes unusable. Therefore, it must be changed periodically.
Necessary
- - new heater radiator;
- - new pipes;
- - set of tools;
- - cotton gloves.
Instructions
Step 1
Choose a location where you can safely replace the radiator. A garage is best suited for this procedure. If it is not there, then you can put the car under any shed so that there is a roof in case of rain.
Step 2
Disconnect the "minus" terminal from the Volga battery to exclude a short circuit in the on-board power supply system of the car.
Step 3
There are two ways to replace a radiator. The first is the most time consuming, however, it allows you to get full access to the stove radiator, as well as to all the pipes.
Step 4
Dismantle the torpedo. To do this, remove all covers and removable parts. Detach the steering wheel shroud. Disconnect the horn wires carefully, unscrew the nuts holding the push mechanism housing and remove the housing.
Step 5
Find the nut that secures the wheel to the steering shaft and unscrew. Remove the steering wheel. Remove the steering column switches. Find all the screws holding the torpedo. Unscrew them.
Step 6
Carefully remove the torpedo, having previously disconnected all the wiring pads from the back. Under the right side, find the casing, under which is the stove radiator. Remove it by unscrewing all bolts.
Step 7
Carefully detach all hoses and pipes attached to the radiator. Examine them carefully. Replace broken and unusable ones with new ones. Remove the old radiator. Install a new one and connect all hoses to it.
Step 8
Assemble and install the torpedo in reverse order.
Step 9
The second method does not require complete dismantling of the torpedo, but it does not provide full access to all pipes. In this case, you can easily replace the heating radiator, but you will not be able to check the integrity of all the pipes.
Step 10
Remove the glove compartment cover, as well as the box itself. Take out the shelf that is located under the glove compartment. Also, for more comfortable dismantling, the front passenger seat can be removed from the roof rails.
Step 11
Unscrew the lower screws that hold the torpedo. Gently bend the bottom left of the front panel. It is best to perform this procedure together, so that one person can bend the torpedo, and the other can work with the stove radiator.
Step 12
While your partner is holding the torpedo, carefully disconnect all hoses from the radiator. Unscrew the bolts that secure it. Take out the old radiator and replace it with a new one. Connect all connections in reverse order.
Step 13
Replace the glove compartment and shelf.
