Necessary

  • - fine sandpaper;
  • - masking tape;
  • - solvent;
  • - detergent;
  • - brush;
  • - soil;
  • - dye;
  • - varnish.

Instructions

Step 1

Prepare the materials required for painting. Pay attention to the fact that you need special tools, namely acrylic primer, acrylic autoenamel, acrylic decolorized varnish. Acrylic is the most suitable material for painting discs, because has increased resistance to mechanical stress.

Step 2

Remove the tires from the wheels. Clean the discs from dirt and corrosion, you can use a toothbrush in hard-to-reach places. Wash them thoroughly both on the outside and on the inside.

Step 3

Take sandpaper and after the discs are dry, sand them down to an even matte finish. Degrease the surface using solvent and wait again for the discs to dry well.

Step 4

Next, take some cardboard and masking tape. You will need them to cover areas on the wheel where paint should not get into. For example, a wheel nipple. Also, you will have to use this technique if you decide not to remove the tire from the rim. It must be carefully covered with paper and pasted over with tape on top.

Step 5

Proceed with the primer. Please note that this process will take you several hours. It is necessary to put three layers of soil at intervals of 15-20 minutes. After that, the disc will dry for a while, possibly quite a long time.

Step 6

Then start painting the disc. Take some time again, keep pauses between applying layers of paint, do not allow smudges. The scheme of actions is the same as for priming: 2-3 layers of acrylic autoenamel with an interval of 15-20 minutes.

Step 7

Wait for the paint to dry completely. Now, to increase wear resistance, the surface of the discs can be varnished. The sequence of actions is no different from the painting process. Each applied layer of varnish should dry well within 15-20 minutes, and only then can the operation be repeated (only 2-3 times). Then leave the discs in a ventilated area for 24 hours. Then install on the car.
