In order to properly tune the carburetor, you must perform the following operations.

How to set up a carburetor
  1. Make sure that the ignition system of the car is working properly, otherwise adjust it.
  2. Adjust the clearances in the valve mechanism and make sure that the compression in the engine cylinders has a value close to that indicated in the car's passport.
  3. Check the operation of the carburetor solenoid valve and the cleanliness of the idle jet.
  4. Check the operation of the cold start damper. With a recessed "suction", the damper should be in a vertical position.
  5. Check the absence of vacuum in the tube that goes to the ignition distributor. If there is vacuum in the tube at idle speed of the engine, adjust the position of the throttle valve of the primary chamber.
  6. Check the position of the secondary chamber shutter. It should be closed. If not, adjust the flap position with the set screw.
  7. Pay attention to the return spring and the stroke of the throttle cable. The cable should move in the shell without jamming, the throttle valve, when the pedal is released, immediately returns to its original position.

You can adjust the carburetor by adjusting the idle speed, for which, first, warm up the engine to operating temperature and perform the following operations:

  • set the quality screw on the carburetor to the position - five turns from the fully wrapped state;
  • unscrew the screw for the amount of the fuel mixture until the vacuum disappears in the tube connecting the ignition distributor and the carburetor, if the engine normally keeps idling within the range of five hundred to one and a half thousand revolutions, the adjustment can be continued;
  • screw in the screw for the amount of the mixture to the position when the revolutions are established at eight hundred rpm;
  • turn the screw of the mixture quality and achieve uniform and stable engine operation, continue screwing the screw until interruptions appear and return the screw to the position of high-quality engine operation when the idle speed is stable;
  • set the idle speed by the screw of the amount of the mixture to the value indicated in the car's passport, usually eight hundred to nine hundred rpm;
  • clarify the setting made by repeating the operations performed in the two previous paragraphs of the instructions three to four times;

If the carburetor is set correctly, removing the wire from the solenoid valve will cause the engine to stall.
