Many VAZ cars are equipped with carburetors of the Dimitrovgrad Automobile Unit Plant (DAAZ). To improve the dynamic characteristics of a car with such a carburetor, there is no need to go through a complex and expensive injection installation procedure. Some tips will help you tune your carburetor at a minimum cost.

Step 1
In most cases, the factory-installed carburetor will not maintain a stable idle speed. A possible reason lies in an excessively lean mixture. Remove the fuel mixture quality screw to enrich it. The CO content can be adjusted within 2%.
Step 2
If air is leaking after the throttle valve, check the so-called carburetor mating plane. Check at the same time the tightness of the vacuum booster pipe, its seals, as well as the correct installation of the intake manifold and its gasket. If necessary, restore the tightness of the connections by tightening the fasteners or replacing the gaskets.
Step 3
If the engine stalls after a reduction in RPM, replace the jet with a larger flow jet. Additionally, check the operation of the control unit and adjust it for the new jet.
Step 4
In the case when warming up a cold engine with a closed damper is accompanied by a "flood", first warm up the engine. Then close the choke completely by pulling out the suction. Loosen the jam nut on the automatic regulator stem. Now unscrew the stem with a screwdriver until the speed reaches 3000 rpm. Install the locknut on the stem.
Step 5
Modify the carburetor by increasing the diameter of the main diffusers and adjusting the system to them. Such a measure will help to further improve the dynamic characteristics, however, it requires certain skills and qualifications. Step 6
If the standard 083 carburetor is serviceable and adjusted, but the dynamics of the car does not satisfy you, replace the carburetor with DAAZ 21073. The main advantage of this model is fuel efficiency.
