Step 1
In order not to alter anything in the Niva's chassis, just replace the disks and tires. In the database, the car is equipped with not the best rubber option, since the main criterion for choosing it is a low price.
For off-road use, choose wide tires with lots of ribs on the tread. It is desirable that there are special ribs on the sides, which are called lugs.

If at the same time it is necessary to increase the wheel outreach, change the disks for the tire size, install a reinforced hub, on double-row bearings, and on the hub of the stand made of a special alloy, which will help to increase the wheel outreach.
With an increase in the diameter of the wheels, change the main pairs of axles, increasing the gear ratio. Calculating the new gear ratio is simple - to do this, find the ratio of the new wheel diameter to the old one and multiply by the original gear ratio. From the available options for the main pairs, choose the kit that is closest in its characteristics.

If the increase in the Niva's ground clearance by changing the wheels is not enough, lift the car's suspension using special spacers for its elements. To do this, purchase a lift kit, which for the front suspension is a set of washers installed under the spring and the upper arm, while swapping the steering knuckle levers so that they can move normally and do not touch other suspension elements. For the rear suspension, special spring cups are provided, which are attached from above, and brackets are installed from below, which extend the shock absorber by 5 cm.

To protect the car from possible damage, install a power kit on it. As a rule, it consists of a front and rear bumper, "bumper guard" and power sills.
When choosing reinforced bumpers, take into account the possibility that you will have to raise the "Niva" on it with the help of a rack and pinion jack. When choosing a "kenguryatnik", consider that its main function is not to give an aggressive appearance, but to protect the headlights and radiator. When traveling in the woods, install windbags, which are cables stretched from the "bumper guard" for the roof rack. They will reliably protect the windshield.
