If you cannot turn on the wheel lock the first time on a normal serviceable "Niva", do not despair. The mechanism is in order. Just using it requires certain knowledge and skills.
Instructions
Step 1
Although engaging a lock and engaging a transfer are essentially the same process, their mechanisms are different. Do not try to engage the interlock while the machine is stationary. If you suddenly succeed, consider yourself a darling of fate - you are just lucky. Because the complete coincidence of the teeth and grooves on the locking clutch is a very rare accident. When shifting into gear, you use the clutch, and with a light pressure, the rotary shaft tooth easily slides into the stationary groove. And in the locking mechanism, the clutch and the output shaft with a gear rim are rigidly connected through the satellites.
Step 2
To enable blocking on the Niva, start and warm up the engine. Engage first gear and start driving. If you are driving on a normal paved road, in a straight line, switching will also not occur. The front and rear wheels travel an equal path, which does not force the satellites to rotate.
Step 3
Continuing to move, begin to rotate the steering wheel left and right, while pressing the lock release handle. The front and rear wheels will travel different distances, the satellites will begin to rotate, and the output shaft will rotate in relation to the clutch. The tooth will find its groove and the lock will engage.
Step 4
Deactivating the lock also requires certain actions. The fact is that when driving with the wheels locked, the teeth in the clutch and the gear rim are very strongly compressed. This happens due to the asynchronous, somewhat frustrating movement of all wheels. To relieve tension, wiggle the steering wheel, engage reverse gear. A little patience, and the pen will work.
