When learning to drive, one of the first questions is almost always - how to get under way in a car with a manual transmission? In fact, the mechanics are not as difficult as they initially seem. It is enough to remember a certain sequence of movements of the legs and arms.
Instructions
Step 1
Before starting off with a manual transmission machine, operate the pedals and the gear lever with the ignition off. Step alternately with your left foot on the clutch pedal (left) and with your right foot on the gas pedal (right). This is necessary in order to feel the degree of rigidity of the pedal and learn how to press them all the way and release them smoothly if necessary. Depressing the clutch pedal all the way, try to shift gears one by one, making sure not to confuse them.
Step 2
Try to get under way on the mechanic already with the engine running. First, make sure the vehicle is on a level surface and has a handbrake for safety. Move the gear lever lightly - it should be in neutral. Now depress the clutch pedal all the way, insert the key and turn to the right to turn on the ignition. Continuing to hold down the clutch pedal, shift the lever into first gear. Release the handbrake down.
Step 3
Begin to very smoothly press the gas pedal with your right foot. After 1-2 seconds, slowly release the clutch while continuing to accelerate smoothly. For convenience, at this time, you can watch the tachometer needle - the optimal engine speed when starting off is 1500-2500. If you did everything correctly, the car will slowly move straight ahead. After 2000-25000 engine rpm, release the throttle smoothly, depress the clutch and, if necessary, switch to second gear to continue driving comfortably.
Step 4
Consider the errors due to which novice drivers fail to get under way correctly on the mechanics, so as not to stall. The car can stall if you release (drop) the clutch pedal too quickly, or if you release it slowly but apply too little gas. In this process, complete synchronization of the movement of the legs is necessary, and if you did not succeed the first time, do not despair and train more - gradually the skill will improve and gain a foothold.
Step 5
Some drivers at the beginning of the movement mistakenly include not the first gear, but the third, since they are located close to each other. Remember that the first gear is almost fully left, while the third is closer to the center. Do not forget to release the handbrake, otherwise the car will not be able to move. If the car is located on a slightly or even strongly inclined surface, try depressing the gas pedal harder, starting to release the clutch even more smoothly after 3-4 seconds. Another option is to release the handbrake after the car starts to move slightly straight ahead.
