A general power of attorney is a document that confirms that the owner allows another person to take control of his car. In addition, a general power of attorney provides not just the use of someone else's car, but also makes it possible to reissue it for yourself during the term of the power of attorney. Also, unlike the sale and purchase, issuing a general power of attorney will allow the seller to avoid the long registration of the car with the traffic police.

In order to issue such a power of attorney, you should contact a notary. But before you do this, you need to prepare, and subsequently have the necessary documents with you: the passport of the owner of the car, the personal data of the person to whom the car is entrusted (preferably its passport or a copy), a certificate of registration of the car and a technical passport.

The general power of attorney is drawn up by a notary. Therefore, you should first call several notary offices in order to find out in advance the price for the service provided, the work schedule of the specialist, as well as the possibility of forming a queue wishing to find out such questions of people.
Step 4
Since the contract is drawn up between the notary and the owner of the car, the principal does not need to be present at the conclusion of this transaction.

The notary provides a form of power of attorney and, in fact, when it is necessary to fill in the appropriate fields, put a personal signature and date of completion. This procedure will take very little time. The issued general power of attorney is considered valid from the date of signing the document by a notary for up to three years.

As long as the authorized person does not re-register the car for himself through the traffic police, the current owner has every right to revoke the power of attorney at any time and perform any other actions as the owner. He will also receive all receipts for payment of taxes and fines.

There are several reasons why a general power of attorney may become invalid prematurely:
- if the present owner has withdrawn it;
- when the trustee independently made a decision to abandon the car;
- death of the car owner;
- death of a confidant;
- incapacity for work of the trustee.
