Xenon, or xenon lamp, is a type of gas discharge lamp. It is a quartz glass flask filled with gas under high pressure (up to 30 atm). Xenon may not burn for two reasons: the lamp has deteriorated or the ignition unit is faulty.

Instructions

Step 1

The xenon lamp kit includes a lamp ignition unit and a lamp itself. The ignition unit is required to supply a high-voltage (25,000 volt) pulse to the lamp, as a result of which ionization begins and the lamp begins to light up. In combustion mode, the lighting device already requires a small power - about 35 watts.

Step 2

To determine the malfunction, carefully remove the xenon lamp from the headlamp unit. Inspect it visually. Disconnect the lamp wires from the ignition unit.

Step 3

Connect the wires of the ignition unit to another working xenon lamp. If the lamp lights up, then the matter is most likely in the lamp. If the lamp does not light up, then the ignition unit is faulty, and it will have to be replaced. The block is a special microcircuit sealed in an iron case. They have five generations, the fourth generation units are considered the most common and reliable, so when choosing a new lamp, give preference to them.

Step 4

Purchase lamps whose ignition unit can be replaced in the event of a malfunction.

Step 5

Do not forget to touch the xenon lamp carefully, through a napkin or with rubber gloves. The flask is fragile enough, and grease marks from the hands can lead to a change in the luminescence spectrum.

Step 6

It should also be remembered that when installing xenon headlights, an automatic tilt adjustment system and a headlight washer should also be installed so that the oncoming light does not dazzle drivers driving in the opposite direction.
