Unfortunately, winter is the hardest time of the year for car owners. It is not for nothing that many motorists put their car in the garage and use public transport until spring. But if you do decide to spend the winter "on wheels", follow the necessary rules.
It is necessary
- - butter;
- - silicone;
- - lighter;
- - wires;
- - garage.
Instructions
Step 1
Before bothering with the question of how to start a car in winter, you need to do a few simple procedures. First, change the engine oil. For winter, semi-synthetic or synthetic is suitable. It is not recommended to use mineral oil - it tends to freeze in severe frost. If for the summer period you diluted antifreeze with water, then be sure to replace it and flush the entire system. Water can turn into ice, leading to extremely undesirable consequences and costly repairs.
Step 2
In cold weather, you can often encounter the problem of freezing of doors and trunk, especially after a car wash. To prevent this from happening, lubricate all the rubber bands with special silicone in advance. If the gum does freeze, in no case jerk the door abruptly - the gum may come off! To protect the radiator from salt and harmful impurities from winter roads, it is necessary to insulate the radiator grill. Just place a sheet of cardboard or insulation on the inside of the grate. It will be almost invisible from the outside, but it will benefit the engine. It will warm up faster and cool down more slowly.
Step 3
To get started, turn on the high or low beam headlights for 5-10 minutes. After 30 seconds, start starting the car. On a manual transmission, try depressing the clutch pedal when starting. As soon as the car starts up, hold the pedal for another minute, so the car will not stall, and the engine will run more steadily. With an automatic gearbox, everything is more complicated. As soon as the car has started (if it has started), while the brake is applied, change gears several times to different modes. This will warm up the automatic transmission.
Step 4
Do not start the car the first time. To get started, turn the starter motor - this way you will supply oil to the engine. From the second start, the car should start immediately.
Step 5
A great way to start the engine quickly is to warm up the car every 4-5 hours, day and night. But if it is still possible to do this during the day, then at night not everyone will agree to it.
Step 6
Small breaks should be taken between startup attempts. Without them, you run the risk of flooding the candles. If this does happen, then the only fast-acting way is to warm up the candles at home over gas.
Step 7
If all of the above actions did not have an effect, ask the nearest drivers or a neighbor to "light a cigarette". If you have wires, and even more so if they are already connected, you are unlikely to be refused.
