An ignition unit or, as it is also called, ballast is connected to each xenon lamp, it allows you to transform a low voltage (a car generator can provide a voltage of 12V) into a high one. Halogen lamps light up when the filaments are heated, they are powered by the 12V on-board network. As a result, the current passes through the filament, which in turn is heated and emits light.

If we talk about the manufacturer of xenon, then we can mention such leaders as APP, SHO-ME, MTF, but there are also many lesser-known brands, such as, as a rule, are imported to us in limited quantities. It is better to choose more well-known, proven companies, since they give a six-month or one-year warranty on their products, and you can always easily buy a new ignition unit or replace the lamp itself with a broken one.

The ignition units are small in size, an experienced person can easily install them in a car. If there is very little space under the hood of your car, then choose thinner ignition units, their thickness does not exceed 1 cm (manufacturers put the markings slim or ultra slim on them).

When buying xenon, you will also certainly come across a wide selection of "generations" of blocks. Blocks of the third, fourth and fifth generations are most often on sale. When we talk about generations of blocks, we mean the electronics inside the case. Manufacturing companies are trying to constantly modernize the internal content of the ignition units, so it is simply impossible to talk about all the technical characteristics.

Note that you should not chase generations, because even a third-generation ignition unit will be able to provide everything you need for high-quality xenon operation.

Now a little about the lamps, they differ in base and glow. The most popular lamps are 6000, 5000 and 4300 Kelvin. The glow temperature will affect the color of the lamp glow. The 4300 Kelvin lamp gives a glow as close as possible to daylight, this will provide excellent visibility in all weather conditions. A 500 Kelvin lamp has a white glow, and 6000 Kelvin lamps have a slightly bluish glow (they do not light the road well in rain, fog, snow).

As for the required base, here you need to find out which base is in your own lamps. The caps have different markings, and you need to select a new xenon with the same type of cap as your own lamps.
