It often happens that after rain, visiting a car wash or overcoming a deep puddle, the headlights begin to fog up. This happens either due to cracks in the headlight plastic or on the sealant, or due to clogged ventilation holes.

- - drill with thin drills (2-3 mm)
Instructions
Step 1
Before removing cracks on the glass surface, first find them if they are large and clearly visible. Microcracks in optics are often indistinguishable to the human eye. They are detected by filling the interior of the light fixture with a colored gas. If it is not possible to do this at home, contact the specialists in the workshop. Also, inspect the seam between the headlamp housing and headlamp glass for cracks and through holes.
Step 2
To repair damage to the plastic, be sure to remove the headlight. Even if the crack is clearly visible from the outside. To do this, use the instructions for the car and strictly follow them. Clean the threads of the fastening screws and nuts with a wire brush and treat with WD 40 fluid. To separate the headlamp glass from the body, heat the seam with a hot air gun around the entire perimeter. After completely disassembling the headlamp, dry it thoroughly.
Step 3
Use adhesive tape to cover the area of the glass to be repaired. If the crack is narrow, re-drill it so that a small cavity forms. Thoroughly clean, rinse with detergent and degrease the area to be repaired. Apply optics restoration polymer or specialized glue to the crack, making sure that the compound completely fills the crack or cavity. Dry the repaired area for the time indicated in the instructions for the adhesive or polymer. Remove dried excess composition with sandpaper.
Step 4
When bonding the headlamp housing to the glass, use the highest quality sealant possible to ensure the desired degree of tightness. After removing the remnants of the old sealant with a special activator, prepare the connector surfaces for gluing. To do this, clean it with sandpaper, rinse and degrease. Apply new sealant to the connector, connect the glass and headlight and hold under pressure for the required time. Visually inspect the quality of the welded joint and remove any protruding excess sealant with activator or sanding paper.
Step 5
Inspect the vents and vents on the headlamp. If these holes are dirty, the headlights can fog up. Use a thin metal wire to clean these holes. Also drill some additional ventilation and drainage holes with a diameter of 2-3 mm. It is important that the holes are drilled from the inside of the headlamp and from top to bottom. The correct direction of the ventilation and drainage channel will keep the headlamp from getting into it during rain or car wash.
