The car can have either two or three pedals. It all depends on the make of the car and on the type of gearbox. The position of the pedals is always the same, regardless of whether the steering wheel is on the right or left side of the car.

Unlike previous pedals, it is narrower and has a fail-safe design that automatically returns it to its original position when not depressed by the driver.

Pedals in cars can be suspended or floor mounted. It all depends on the brand of the car. It is believed that floor standing pedals are much more convenient and practical.

Some cars have a parking brake pedal called a scissor pedal. These pedals can be found in cars with an automatic transmission. This pedal is located on the left and replaces the handbrake lever. With smooth pressure, the pedal becomes stationary. It is securely fixed with a ratchet, just like the car itself.

Since the right foot is usually used on the gas or brake pedal, there is no stand for it on the right, even if it is a cruise control vehicle. Heavy tracked vehicles such as bulldozers or tanks may have two brake pedals; for the left and right sides, respectively. These vehicles do not have a clutch pedal. In a bulldozer, the gas pedal works in the opposite direction; depressing the pedal leads to a stop, weakening the depressing - to full travel.
