Over time, any car enthusiast faces the problem of body repair and the question of how to make a body with his own hands at no extra cost. The body is repaired depending on the general condition, that is, on the extent of its damage. So, the repair can be complete (overhaul in case of severe damage) or partial (surface repair to eliminate minor defects).

Instructions

Step 1

Wash the car body thoroughly and dry it. Inspect carefully all body parts and components. This must be done in order to find out in what condition the body is and what kind of repair it needs, as well as a hedgehog in order not to remove unnecessary parts in the future and not clutter up the room in which the repair is being made.

Step 2

Disassemble the body. Depending on what kind of repair is required (full, partial), remove the necessary parts, and if necessary, also remove the chassis assemblies (the supporting structure of the body in the car).

Step 3

Clean the room where the work will be done from unnecessary rubbish, and put the removable parts nearby in a certain order, so that later it is convenient to assemble, and unnecessary parts do not interfere with your work.

Step 4

Flush the body again. This can be done with a strong jet of water or in any other way.

Jack up the front of the body. Other lifting tools can be used for lifting, depending on your budget.

Step 5

Install the body at a height of approximately 60-70 cm. This height provides good access to most parts. In case it is necessary to dismantle the car engine, the height should be chosen a little higher.

Step 6

Use a trolley of appropriate capacity, on which you can easily detach the engine or other massive parts of the car and roll them out, and then just as conveniently put them back.

Separate the parts when disassembling the body into several parts - suitable, unusable and those that need to be repaired. In this case, fit parts that are in good condition in one corner, dispose of unusable ones immediately, and put the repaired ones aside.

Step 7

When cutting off components or assemblies that interfere with the repair or removal of other parts, use a special mechanical tool, a chisel or a hacksaw.

Step 8

Remove the paintwork from the body in whole or in part (as required by repair).

Reassess the condition of your body, parts and damage.

Make a repair plan, taking into account the complexity of the repair work. Do the most difficult work first, then fix the minor damage.

Step 9

Use a drift to reshape the parts you want. To do this, use a hammer or pressure, start punching from the deformed area to the center. Apply pressure using a jack. Choose a hammer for such work with a rubber-coated tip. Use a special hand anvil with the hammer.

Step 10

Eliminate all the unevenness of the part to be repaired with the help of straightening, giving it its original appearance. For this work, use a special straightening hammer and an anvil with a smooth surface. All strikes must be light and accurate. Begin by straightening the wrinkles on the part to be repaired.

Step 11

Apply heating technology in case it is necessary to eliminate the appeared bulges on the parts. For this, an oxygen-acetylene torch or a welding machine should be used. The metal is heated with a tool to red and subsequently, while cooling, it shrinks, thereby eliminating the bulge. In this case, you should know that you should not heat the entire area of the bulge; it is enough to select several points.

Collect all parts after repair, replacing them with new ones or refurbished ones.

You can safely drive your "new" car.
