The car adsorber is part of the fuel vapor recovery system, which prevents the release of gasoline vapors from the fuel system into the atmosphere. The charcoal adsorber is installed on the fuel tank and connected by pipes to the fuel vapor separator and to the purge valve.
Instructions
Step 1
Gasoline vapors accumulate in the gas tank, which the adsorber picks up and injects into the throttle using the purge valve. There the vapors mix with air and enrich the gasoline mixture.
Step 2
Previously, there were two valves in the gas tank plug: atmospheric and steam. The latter released fuel vapors into the air. Today, fuel tanks have only an atmospheric valve to allow air to enter the tank. Gasoline vapors are released by an adsorber installed on the tank.
Step 3
Some motorists do not understand the purpose of the adsorber and are in a hurry to get rid of an unnecessary, in their opinion, unit, arguing that it prevents them from servicing the engine. However, without an adsorber, there is no ventilation of the fuel tanks, which in hot weather can lead to sad consequences. In addition, the presence of adsorbers on cars significantly affects the ecological situation of the environment.
Step 4
If a malfunction of the trapping system appears, deterioration of the car's driving performance, instability of idling, engine shutdown, etc. Cars equipped with computer diagnostics are especially affected by this.
Step 5
A malfunction of the capture system can be detected when a persistent smell of gasoline appears, which appears due to a violation of the sealing of its pipelines and assemblies or a failure of the purge valve. Also, an unstable idling or engine shutdown may indicate a system malfunction.
Step 6
In these cases, it is necessary to remove the adsorber from the engine, check it or replace it. To work you need a flat screwdriver and a 10 key. Disconnect the wires from the battery terminals.
Step 7
Disconnect the harness from the canister purge valve. Loosen the clamp screws and remove the hoses from the purge valve fittings.
Step 8
Unscrew the bolt that tightens the clamp for attaching the adsorber, remove the adsorber. After checking or replacing it, install the adsorber in place, proceeding in reverse order.
