The engine is the "heart" of the car, its main component. Engines come in different capacities, i.e. work in the process of combustion of the air-fuel mixture in the cylinder for a certain unit of time. So how do you find the engine power?

Instructions

Step 1

Look in the technical passport of the car. It contains the engine number and model. Determine the power by the model. Please note that not all countries have such data. Therefore, there is a chance that this information will not appear on your machine.

Step 2

Enter the VIN code of the vehicle, i.e. body number into one of the many Internet databases. Get complete information about the car engine power.

Step 3

Find the engine power by measuring it with the IMD-Ts device. Such a device allows you to measure the frequency of the crankshaft in a non-contact way with a 1.5% error, as well as measure the temperature of water (liquid) and oil. Connect the device to 12V (DC power supply). Locate the sensor wire that attaches to the PTO shaft or is hidden in the engine flywheel housing. Connect the found wire to the device and activate it with the "On" lever.

Step 4

Set the following indicators on the scale of the device: the calibration value of the speed of rotation, the value of the acceleration of the crankshaft (crankshaft) and the calibration value of the crankshaft speed at which the acceleration is measured. Switch off the device.

Step 5

Start the engine. Please note that the temperature of the coolant and engine oil must be 70-90˚ С. Turn on the device, where the crankshaft speed will be displayed. Press the button labeled "Measurement of speed-acceleration".

Step 6

Increase the engine speed sharply to the maximum level. Fix the highest value. Carry out three experiments in the same way.

Step 7

Determine the average acceleration value by adding the results of three experiments and dividing them by three.

Step 8

Add a monogram - a graph of the dependence of motor power on acceleration. Plug in the acceleration data obtained and determine the engine power.
