Tuning a domestic car is an interesting activity that almost every owner is engaged in. They decorate both the exterior and the interior of the car. The motor, which is given a few more horses, is not left without attention either.
The body design of the nines can be very attractive after tuning, but if there is an engine under the hood, the horses of which are wasting away, the overall impression of the car is poor. Therefore, it is worth changing the power unit to the maximum in order not only to look beautiful, but also to effectively start from traffic lights. And this will require a whole range of measures to improve dynamics and power.
Lightening knots is the key to success
The following engine elements will need to be lightened as much as possible:
- pistons;
- crankshaft;
- connecting rods;
- flywheel.
On sale you can find already lightweight parts produced specifically for tuning engines. In addition, increasing the volume of the motor will add a few horsepower. But it is highly undesirable to use the maximum cylinder bore. It's just that in the case of the next overhaul, you will have to install new liners. And this is a rather large expenditure of money.
Change the carburetor to the injector
If you have a carbureted fuel injection system, then it is best to replace it with an injection one. As a result, you will get a lot of advantages, against the background of which the disadvantages are not very noticeable. The pluses include:
- the ability to flash the ECU for the desired operating mode;
- fuel economy;
- the ability to install a turbocharger;
- reduction of emissions of harmful substances (although very few people care about this).
Turbocharging works best with injection engines. Carburettors have a trait - they are sensitive to the amount of air. It is also possible to install the fourth generation HBO on the car. It is not worth putting the fifth, as it is expensive to maintain and repair, and on a par with the fourth in terms of capabilities. The power loss will be only 3%, but the fuel savings will be noticeable.
Turbine installation
This is something that can increase the power of the engine several times. A quality turbine from a reliable manufacturer will improve the performance of the engine many times over. It is only desirable that the engine be in perfect condition, otherwise it will not be possible to squeeze out the maximum. The turbine is driven by exhaust gases and therefore only works when the engine is running. You can even say that the motor works for itself.
From the impeller in the exhaust manifold, the movement is transmitted axially to the compressor, made using gears. This type of compressor is not afraid of high temperatures and is quite durable. As a result, air under high pressure is pumped into the power system, which increases the engine power.
There are many nuances in the operation of a turbine. For example, a dip occurs at certain engine speeds. At the same time, the operation of the turbocharger is not felt. By overpaying a little, you can purchase a turbine in which two compressors are installed, which fail at different engine speeds. As a result, they compensate for each other, and the driver does not experience discomfort from this behavior of the motor.
