Increasing the power of the VAZ-2106 engine is a necessary matter when carrying out tuning. The car should be attractive not only externally, but also internally. The engine needs as many horses as possible so that the speed is higher, and acceleration, and traction. There are two ways to improve motor performance. The first is the installation of a turbine, it is able to add a lot of horses to the engine. And the second way is the modernization of all engine components. And the best option turns out to be the combination of the first and second.
What is a turbine?
It should be noted right away that the turbine on injection engines will work well. Carburetor engines will only feel worse after installing a turbocharger. A turbine is a unit in which there is an impeller driven by the force of the exhaust gases and a compressor that pumps air. Accordingly, the impeller is installed in the exhaust manifold.
The compressor inlet is connected to a zero resistance filter, and the outlet is connected to the vehicle's power system. The shaft rotates at a speed of several thousand revolutions per minute. The exact figure depends on the manufacturer of the turbine and its model. This is quite enough to pump air under high pressure into the power supply system. Thanks to the turbine, the power of a standard engine can be increased by 2-3 times.
We sort out the engine
But putting a turbocharger on an engine that has long outlived its usefulness and requires repair is not very reasonable. Therefore, it is worth going through it and replacing almost everything. The most important thing is the piston group. You can purchase lightweight pistons, or you can reduce the weight of standard ones yourself. True, you need the help of a qualified turner if you do not have the appropriate skills.
Grind the piston skirt from the inside, just try not to break the integrity of the part. Trimming the skirt completely is not recommended because this will affect the position of the piston in the cylinder while the engine is running. The piston can tilt slightly, causing the motor to jam, and in this case repair is inevitable.
Next in line are the connecting rods and the crankshaft. These knots also need to be lightened as much as possible. And here you can't do without a lathe. The engine flywheel should also be ground off from the inside. On the VAZ-2106, the flywheel is very heavy, it is difficult for the engine to spin it up, so a lot of power is lost.
Remember to balance the crankshaft and flywheel. If you do not do this, then vibrations will be provided to you. And take care of the lubrication and cooling of the engine. Install a high performance oil pump. The engine will now need large quantities of lubricant. And as a radiator fan, it is best to use the one with a larger number of blades. You can also find a pulley for a pump of a smaller diameter so that the coolant pump pumps faster.
