Trunk is a place in a car intended for storing things of the driver and passengers. Most often, roof racks are collapsible, and if necessary, they can be removed on your own.

Instructions

Step 1

There are both collapsible and non-collapsible trunks. The rear trunk of the car is usually not dismountable, which is located at the rear of the car and is an integral part of the body. In this case, you can remove the trunk lid yourself. To do this, remove the bullets around the perimeter of the lining, and then remove the very inner lining of the trunk. Next, using a screw cutter and a suitable screwdriver, remove the screws that attach the trunk hinges. Now you can remove the cover.

Step 2

If the hinges and screws are difficult to open, lubricate them with oil and try to remove after a while. If it is necessary to remove the entire rear part of the body, including the bottom of the trunk, for example, after an accident, you cannot do without the help of specialists at a service station.

Step 3

Most often, collapsible roof racks are located on the roof or on the rear door of the body. The way they are disassembled will depend on the model of the trunk itself, as well as the mounts that hold it. The easiest to disassemble are roof racks with clamp and snap fasteners, and mounted models. To remove them, simply unfasten the fasteners and remove the supports or crossbars. Fold all the mountings and the rack itself into an accessible place to save for the next installation. If space permits, place all parts in the standard rear trunk of the car.

Step 4

More difficult to disassemble are mounted models, fixed with self-tapping screws. Such a rack is screwed into the car body, and after removing it, holes and scuffs remain on the body. Read the car manual or choose a suitable screw cutter yourself and, having lubricated the screws with machine oil, carefully unscrew them, taking care not to damage the body paint. Remove the trunk. Gently putty the places from the screws and paint the body in the appropriate color shades using a spray can of paint.
