Some time passes - and you realize that it's time to repair your scooter. It is best, of course, to turn to professionals, then your repair work will not be delayed and you will be sure of their quality. But some parts, nevertheless, you can try to repair yourself.
Instructions
Step 1
To repair the front shock absorber struts, you must first remove them from the scooter. To do this, first remove the front wheel and release both struts. Unscrew the nuts, remove them, and then pull out first one and then the other rack. Clean off the dirt and rinse in gasoline.
Step 2
Remove the rubber boot from the stand. Then remove the stopper from the socket. Do this with an awl or a very thin screwdriver. Clamp the chrome rod in a vise. Place the stand in a comfortable way and try to pull. Insert the previously prepared axle into the hole for the axle of the wheel, hit it with a hammer, in the direction of the rod outward. But be careful. Hit just a couple of times, and the structure will move by itself. Carefully remove everything, clean and inspect. Wash this unit well in gasoline. Remove the bushings from the stem and assess their wear.
Step 3
Then remove the damping spring from the stem. The main spring remains in the rack, it must be removed, and do not forget at the same time in the very depths of the rubber bump stop. Use a long screwdriver or narrow pliers. Then thoroughly clean the inside of the rack.
Step 4
After disassembling and checking parts, you can upgrade your racks. To do this, place two valve springs from the machine in a row for damping, as well as one spring for damping in a separate rack. When doing this, use an emery reamer in an electric drill.
Step 5
Then move on to making new bushings. Entrust this work to an experienced turner. Give him the stock, the old bushings with the rack. Please note that it is impossible to make aluminum bushings, as they will instantly become unusable.
Step 6
Then check the stem. Don't worry if it turns out to be rusty. But if you still want to replace it, then order a new one from the factory.
Step 7
And the final procedure is thorough lubrication. Drill small holes with an area of about 0.5 cm2 in the lower sleeve, which is located at the very bottom of the rack. Then the oil from the bottom of the rack will not interfere with the operation of the spring mechanism.
Step 8
After that, assemble the rack in the reverse order. Don't forget to put the rubber bumper first. And be sure to check if you've replaced the retaining ring.
