The lack of low beam on the VAZ 2114 is a fairly common phenomenon, especially characteristic of cars after 5 years of operation. In most cases, because of such a problem, you should not rush to go to a car service.

Why the dipped beam does not shine on the VAZ 2114

All VAZ 2114 cars are equipped with headlight units in front, which are equipped with a light direction corrector. Arising problems with low beam are most often associated with reasons that you can eliminate yourself.

Lamp failure and replacement

Halogen lamps with two filaments located in one housing are installed in the car. One of them is responsible for the high beam, the other for the low beam. To make sure that the reason for the lack of light lies precisely in the lamp, it is enough to change it to a known good one. To do this, find the cover under the hood that covers the headlight unit. Turn it clockwise to open. Next, you will see a three-pin connector that needs to be removed. Now it remains to remove the lamp, moving aside the spring clips. Do not forget that the new lighting element cannot be taken by the glass - greasy marks will impair heat transfer and the lamp will quickly fail. Therefore, take it by the contacts, insert it into the grooves, put on the spring clips and close the cover by turning it counterclockwise. When replacing the lamp, pay attention to the contacts in the connector - they should not be oxidized.

Malfunction of fuses, wires and switch

Another, no less common reason is a blown fuse. It is located in the corresponding block located under the hood, on the left side (in the direction of the vehicle), closer to the windshield. Open the black cover and find the desired fuse - in VAZ2114 these are F12 (right headlight) and F13 (left headlight). Both fuses are 7.5 amps. To ensure their integrity, turn the details into the light: whole threads should be visible. If they are missing, the fuse (s) must be replaced. If these elements are intact, but there is still no light, it makes sense to check the relay along the way; it is designated as K9. It is necessary to pull it out and put in a known good part (you can use the K8 high beam relay to check).

Poorly connected or oxidized wires can also cause no light. To make sure that the wiring is working properly, you can disconnect the pads and look at the internal contacts: they should be free of green patches. By the way, a bad or oxidized contact can cause a permanent blown fuse (the same problem is caused by a short circuit in the wire). Least of all, the dipped beam does not light up due to a faulty push button switch. You can simply pull it out and also replace it with a known good one.
