The reasons for changing the mileage of a car can be different: someone wants to reconfigure a car purchased abroad to Russian standards, while someone needs to fix a malfunction of the on-board computer. You can carry out this operation yourself using a pulse generator and a programmer.
First of all, it should be remembered that changing the vehicle mileage is only allowed in certain cases. Among them:
- the need to readjust the electronic speedometer in the case of using wheels of non-standard sizes;
- various malfunctions of the on-board computer and odometer;
- correction of odometer readings on foreign cars measuring mileage;
- malfunctions in the electronic speedometer as a result of a generator or battery failure.
- the need to replace the dashboard and set the new odometer readings in accordance with the original mileage of the car.
All other situations, including the desire to reduce or increase the mileage in order to sell the car more profitably, will be considered illegal, therefore they are prohibited by law and car manufacturers.
Purchase a special generator that allows you to change the mileage of the car without the help of a specialist. This is a small device that emulates the movement of a car. There are two types of it: one of the devices converts electrical impulses into mechanical work, feeding them to the control unit. This is quite suitable for cars produced in the CIS, as well as foreign cars produced before 2007. Another device works when connected to the CAN bus in the car. This bus is installed at manufacturing plants in order to simplify diagnostics of automotive electronics.
Try changing the mileage in a different way. Disassemble the instrument panel. Remove the covers showing the odometer, speedometer and other components. Pay attention to the processor, which usually looks like a large black rectangle. Make a solder and insert it into the programmer designed to change the mileage. After completing the adjustment, solder the part back, assemble the dashboard and put on the arrows correctly.
Change the vehicle mileage manually. Find a speed sensor that has three wires, usually located at the gearbox. Lift one of the drive wheels, rotate it, turning on the ignition and the oscilloscope and ultimately identifying the signal wire. It is worth noting that changing the mileage in this way without the help of a specialist will be quite problematic.
Collect the Pulse Generator. Bring the signal amplitude to the desired wire. Select the frequency depending on the required mileage. Focus on the value of 6 impulses per meter of road. Apply a generator signal in place of the standard speed sensor. Remember that ABS sometimes perceives both sensors with an error that cannot be corrected without the help of specialists.
