Step 1
Park the car on a level surface and secure the wheels with the parking brake or stop shoes. To replace the oil pump drive gear on the VAZ 2121 injection engine through the cylinder block socket, remove the ignition module bracket.
Step 2
Take a 13 key and loosen the two nuts of its lower fastening to the cylinder block. Unscrew with a socket head 13 the nut that secures the wires of the "mass" of the injection system, fixed to the hairpin, to the cylinder block.
Step 3
Remove the wire terminal from the hairpin. Using a 13 socket head, unscrew the nut of the upper bracket fastening. Remove the bracket for the oil line holder to the hydraulic camshaft chain tensioner. Then lift the bracket with the ignition module and move it away from the cylinder block.
Step 4
Use a screwdriver to pry the oil pump drive gear retainer. Remove it from the cylinder block seat. Remove the rubber and paronite gaskets. Insert a wooden mandrel into the spline hole of the oil pump drive gear with an interference fit and pull the gear out of the cylinder block, while turning it counterclockwise. Be careful not to fall into the cylinder block.
Step 5
Install the new oil pump drive gear in reverse order. Insert the gear into the connection with the gear of the drive shaft of the oil pump. Take a screwdriver, insert it into the socket of the cylinder block. Hold the gear with it and pull out the wooden frame. Removal and installation of the oil pump drive gear on the carburetor engine is carried out in the same way. Only in this case, instead of the pinion retainer, remove the ignition distributor by placing the piston of the 1st cylinder at top dead center at the beginning. After replacing the gear, set the ignition timing.
