Necessary

  • - Metal sheet;
  • - dye;
  • - putty;
  • - Sander;
  • - welding machine.

Instructions

Step 1

Wash your entire car thoroughly with car shampoo. Remove the outer door handles. To do this, read the manual for your car. There you can find instructions for withdrawing. Also visit the forum of the owners of your car model. Surely someone has already welded pens and shared their impressions.

Step 2

Think over the opening scheme in advance. If you want to weld absolutely all the handles, then you will have to install an alarm with a door opening function when you press a button on the remote control. Consider installing a special system that will maintain a constant temperature in the cabin all the time. Otherwise, you will not be able to open frozen doors in winter.

Step 3

Choose a paint in advance that will be identical to the color of your car. To do this, find your color markings in the catalog or use the services of a colorist.

Step 4

Make patches from a piece of metal. They must completely cover the opening of the handles. Try on the blanks carefully several times. Grind off excess part if necessary.

Step 5

Carefully place a metal piece against the recess of the handle and secure with spot welding. The distance between the weld points must be the same. Be careful not to create a large gap between the workpiece and the edges of the groove.

Step 6

Carefully smooth out any unevenness after welding using different gauge grinding wheels. Degrease the surface and apply the first coat of putty.

Step 7

Degrease the surface again and apply a second coat of putty. Try to overlay the material in as little layer as possible.

Step 8

Let the putty dry a little. Apply a layer of soil. It is best to use an acidic soil, as it perfectly protects the metal from corrosion.

Step 9

Paint the primed surface with a compressor and spray gun. Spray paint with even and smooth movements, do not stop in one place. Otherwise, streaks will appear.

Step 10

Once completely dry, polish the surface to remove the difference between the old and new paint.
