For later VAZ models, the manufacturing plant has developed a special version of the door handles, which are called euro-handles. They are very easy to use. To install them, it is not necessary to visit a car service.
Necessary
- - socket wrenches;
- - screwdrivers;
- - a set of euro pens;
- - cotton gloves;
- - new bolts and nuts.
Instructions
Step 1
Purchase a set of four pens from your local auto store. They are black. These pens are intended for painting. You can also pick up those that are already painted in a certain color. When buying, be careful, as a large number of fakes have been sold recently. Ask the seller for a quality certificate for the products sold.
Step 2
Examine the condition of your doors. If they sag, then the fasteners should be adjusted. Also check the size of the gaps, which should not exceed six millimeters.
Step 3
Remove the door trim. Usually it is attached to self-tapping screws and plastic caps. You should stock up on a small supply of plastic caps just before installing the euro-handles so that you can easily replace the broken ones.
Step 4
Loosen the lock a little by unscrewing the bolts, and squeeze it half a centimeter into the door. This is necessary in order to be able to insert the socket wrench. Unscrew the screws holding the handles on the inside. To do this, use a thin and long screwdriver with a magnetized tip.
Step 5
Take out the old handle. Clean the inside. Treat with a special anti-corrosion compound if necessary. Install a new handle and place two nuts on the bolts. Apply some special thread sealant to the threads. If old bolts show signs of corrosion, it is better to replace them with new ones. Install bolts of exactly the diameter specified in the instructions. Any deviation can lead to loosening of the handles.
Step 6
Tighten the bolts so that the handle and tongue of the lock are aligned with each other. Check the amount of grip on the door edge with the clips. Tighten the nuts all the way if the closing mechanism works properly. Install the handles on the other three doors using the same scheme.
